Privacy policy

Draft for review. Written from how the app actually works, but not yet checked by a lawyer. Do not rely on it as final.

Who we are

Susu Tracker is run by the Susu Tracker operator("we"). We help savings groups ("susu") in Ghana keep track of contributions, payouts and rotation. You can reach us at support@susutracker.com.

What we collect

  • Your account: your mobile number, full name, email address and display name.
  • Payout details: the mobile money network and number where you want to receive payouts.
  • Group activity: the groups you belong to, your position in the rotation, your contributions and payouts, disputes you raise or are named in, and the invitations you send or receive.
  • Your phone: a push notification token so we can send reminders. The camera is used only on your phone to scan an invite QR code; the picture is never stored or sent to us.
  • Security records: technical logs and your IP address, used to stop abuse such as repeated code requests.

We do not run advertising or analytics trackers in the app, and we do not sell your data.

Who sees what

  • Other members of your groups see your display name, your rotation position and whether you have paid.
  • The group leader also sees your phone number, and the MoMo details of the person being paid so they can request the payout.
  • Our team can see group and payment records to handle disputes, approve payouts and give support. Every staff action is logged.

How we use it

  • To sign you in with a code sent to your phone.
  • To run your groups: the schedule, contributions, payouts, reminders and disputes.
  • To send you text messages and notifications about your contributions, payouts and invitations.
  • To keep the service secure and to meet our record-keeping obligations.

Companies that help us

  • FloatVault collects contributions and sends payouts through the mobile money networks, so it receives the payment details you enter at checkout and your payout number.
  • GateKeeper delivers our sign-in codes and text messages.
  • Expo delivers push notifications.
  • Amazon Web Services and MongoDB Atlas host the service and its database.

These companies may only use your data to provide their service to us.

How long we keep it

While your account is open we keep your details so the app works. Records of money that moved (contributions, payouts, fees) are kept for as long as accounting, dispute handling and the law require, because other members of your group rely on them.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app under Profile. We sign you out and stop all messages straight away. If you sign in again within 30 days, your account is restored. After 30 days we remove your name, number, email, photo, payout details and notification token for good. Financial records stay, but no longer name you; they show "Deleted member". You cannot delete your account while you lead a group, are part of a group that is mid-rotation, or have an open payout or dispute. See how to delete your account.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to how we use it, under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Email us and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission.

Security

Sign-in sessions are stored in your phone's secure storage. Traffic is encrypted, sign-in attempts are rate limited, and staff access is protected by a password and a phone code. No system is perfectly safe; tell us straight away if you think your account was used by someone else.

Who can use the app

Susu Tracker is for people aged 18 and over.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
